The beating is wrong, no doubt. However this is not a biblical Christian by any means. From the report, he didn't preach Christ, but had his own agenda, and when jumped on, preached sex.

1Pe 4:15  Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;16  but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

2Co 4:5  For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.
