Celebrating Independence Day

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.

~John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775

Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.

~George Washington, Circular to the States, May 9, 1753

If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.

~James Madison, letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792

‎"I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts." ~Ronald Reagan

‎"Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives." ~Ronald Reagan

‎"History teaches that war begins when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap." ~Ronald Reagan

"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."
~ Ronald Reagan

True freedom, of course, isn't merely physical, political, or financial. True freedom is spiritual and ONLY found in the Person and work of the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Joh 8:31  So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32  and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

2Co 3:17  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Rom 6:5  For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6  We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7  For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8  Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

Gal 5:1  For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

1Pe 2:16  Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
